Winter Games 2023-2024(Youth)
The Ontario Curling Council administers all province-wide, Multi-Sport Winter Games on behalf of its members, CurlON and the Northern Ontario Curling Association. The 2023-2024 season is an Ontario Winter Games year.
We will be using the NEW Coach Interaction Rules at all Winter Games events. CLICK HERE to view the rules.
Ontario Winter Games – Thunder Bay – February 23-26, 2024 (Friday – Monday)
Curling will host four disciplines at each of these Games:
- U18 Men – Four Person – qualifying age: Under 18 as of June 30, 2023
- U18 Women – Four Person – qualifying age: Under 18 as of June 30, 2023
- U20 Mixed Doubles – qualifying age: Under 20 as of June 30, 2023
- Wheelchair Curling – no qualifying age, standard gender rules for discipline apply.
**Athletes may only compete in one discipline**
Qualification for the Ontario Winter Games
U18 Men and Women – Four Person – Five qualifiers (3 South, 2 North – locations TBD) – November 24-26, 2023 – will qualify one team from each location, with the location with the most entries getting a second qualifier for the OWGs for a total of six Men’s team and six Women’s teams.
U20 Mixed Doubles – Five qualifiers (3 South, 2 North – locations TBD) – December 15-17, 2023 – will qualify one team from each location, with the location with the most entries getting a second qualifier for the OWGs for a total of six Mixed Doubles teams.
Wheelchair Curling – Six qualifying teams – Teams will qualify in the following way:
- Top three “Ontario based” teams from the Ontario Wheelchair Open
- Winners of CurlON and NOCA 2024 provincials (or runners up if already qualified),
- One “Rookie*” Team. *Rookie team will have five or less years of curling experience, is showing progression and commitment to development and will be selected at the completion of the Member Association Provincials.
