Thanks to a ParaSport Strong Grant from the Ministry of Tourism Culture and Sport wheelchair curlers are invited to join us for a unique training opportunity in Thunder Bay, Ontario on March 16-18, 2018.
This camp will focus on situational play, strategy, developing last rock throwers, nutritional needs for competition and an introduction to Mental Training. While this is a doubles event, the format is will not follow “traditional doubles” rules. The format will follow more of a traditional curling structure, but provide more “reps” for throwers, in a smaller team environment to encourage strategy understanding by all players (ie. six rocks per end, each team member throws three rocks each, alternating throwing last rock). We want lessons learned during this training event to be easily transferred to four person curling.
We have assembled an incredible coaching staff for the training weekend.
- Andrea Ronnebeck, OCC Education Manager – North, Camp Lead
- Dick Henderson
- Tom Ward
- Strategy Guests (on-ice mentors throughout the weekend) – Rick Lang, Lorraine Lang, Krista McCarville and Heather Houston
- Canadian Sport Institute Practitioners – Christine St. Clair, RD and Rolf Wagschal, PhD
Any Wheelchair curler residing in Ontario, who intends to play in either the NOCA or Curl ON wheelchair playdowns for the 2018-2019 Season is invited to attend the camp.
